This presentation will cover the steps that CHI St. Alexius and The Bone and Joint Center took to prepare for the Joint Commission Advanced Certification for Total Hip and Total Knee Replacement. We will discuss collaboration efforts with orthopedic surgeons and the establishment of an interdisciplinary team in accordance with the required standards. We will also share what clinical practice guidelines and performance measures we used. Demonstrations of how we presented our outcome and patient satisfaction data will be shared. About the Speakers:

Mark Johnson, PT, is a 1991 graduate of the University of North Dakota Physical Therapy program. He has been employed with CHI St. Alexius Health for 26 years and has been teaching the pre-op education class for knee and hip replacement for 18 years. Mark has provided physical therapy services in the acute care, outpatient and home health care settings for 23 years. In 2014, he became the CHI St. Alexius Health orthopedic total joint program coordinator after the decision was made to pursue Certification from the Joint Commission.

Coleen Staloch, FNP-C, PAC, has been certified since 1984. She has been employed by The Bone and Joint Center for 17 years in patient practice and performing the education for preoperative hip and knee class. In 2014, Coleen was hired as The Bone and Joint Center’s clinical joint coordinator once the decision to obtain Certification was made.
