Outpatient total joint replacements are performed regularly in many parts of the country, and data indicate that in addition to cost 2223-Waltham-BOSS-logo-webinarsavings, patients also experience lower rates of infection and higher overall satisfaction. This presentation will describe the steps taken by Boston Out-Patient Surgical Suites took to develop a successful outpatient joint program. In June 2017, Boston Out-Patient Surgical Suites performed the first total joint replacement surgery in a Massachusetts free-standing ambulatory surgery center. The outpatient environment allowed the knee replacement patient to return to her home later in the day and receive ongoing support from a dedicated team of home healthcare professionals and physical therapists.

  • Describe elements of a clinical pathway surrounding outpatient joints
  • Describe patient selection criteria
  • Describe key elements of efficiency
  • Discuss tactics for negotiations with insurers
  • Discuss tactics for negotiations with vendors

Greg also oversees Eastern Massachusetts Surgery Center, a multi-specialty ASC in Norwood, MA, since 2012. Greg has been named a top Administrators to Know in Becker’s ASC Review numerous times; and he continues to be active as a Physician Assistant, still scrubbing in on complex cases each week. Register here
